I use the stones because they highlight strength, resilience, and an indomitable nature, they can take most of what is thrown at them, even when they are the thing being thrown.

The fact that these stones which were once part of a larger rock formation that has been around from the beginning of time,  combined with the the reality that the stones will still be around long after you and I have departed from this world, creates both a sense of awe and one of humbleness in me.

So they provide the contrast to the materials I add to them, helping me try to visually deliver the meaning of my message.

I like contrast in life, sameness is boring! 

Just like ourselves where we have this tough exterior personality that we show to the world, we also have an inner section we try to hide from the world, this part of us that we store all our insecurities, our fears, our apprehensions, our feelings of inferiority, our lack of confidence, basically everything we believe is wrong with us, and we think will harm us should we open up and expose our short cummings to the world.

Ironically by trying to hide these self acquired beliefs, we stifle our opportunities to heal from them.
